In a heartwarming ceremony held recently, we celebrated several scholarship recipients, who were joined by Brigadier General Bertram Providence (Ret), Commanding General of the Army's Regional Health Command-Pacific, as the keynote speaker. Since 2019, Wounded Warrior Ohana has provided academic scholarships to deserving individuals who live in Hawaii. Initially, the program focused on supporting the children of Gold Star Families, but it later expanded to include children of wounded warriors.
The scholarships offered by the program are the Richard T. Blount Scholarship and the Private First Class JR Salvacion Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships serve as a testament to the program's commitment to honoring and supporting the educational pursuits of those affected by the sacrifices made by service members and their families.
Since the program's inception, 32 scholarships have been awarded, amounting to $141,000. These scholarships will enable the recipients to embark on college careers and pursue their dreams. These deserving students' achievements are a testament to their resilience and dedication and a reflection of the unwavering support provided by the Wounded Warrior Ohana program.
